Sandra's Process
for Original Paintings |
|
|
"My
original paintings are watercolor and ink. This mixed media
creates a graphic image that I enjoy. I apply watercolor to
the paper first to create light, shadow, and areas of color
appropriate to my subject matter. The ink line is applied last
and is determined by the naturally occurring patterns in the
watercolor. This makes for a spontaneous line flow which works
well with the structure of the image.
When framing original works, I use only archival mats
personally chosen to enhance the artwork. Some pieces are
double matted. All mats are cut to be generous, about 1 inch
larger than normal, in order to present the piece well. I also
chose frames individually to ensure than the painting is in
its own element. Careful consideration of mats and frames will
focus the artwork and make it a striking piece."
